Our story

Learning a language should feel like a night in, not a night class.

Funlingo started with a simple frustration: the best way to learn a language is the content you already love — so why does every tool make it feel like homework?

Why we built it

The tools were powerful. They just weren't fun.

Language Reactor, Trancy, the rest — genuinely capable, but built like study software. Dashboards. Setup. A monthly bill. They turned a Netflix night into a chore.

We wanted the opposite. Open a show, see two subtitle lines, tap a word you don't know, keep watching. No account. No paywall. Learning that hides inside the thing you were already going to do.

We acquire language in only one way — when we understand messages we actually care about.

What we believe

Four rules we don't break

1

Free should mean free

No premium tier, no trial that expires, no feature held hostage behind a card. Every part of Funlingo is free, and it stays that way.

2

Learn in real context

Words stick when they arrive in a sentence you care about — said by a character, in a scene. Not on a flashcard out of nowhere.

3

Zero friction

No sign-up, no setup, no dashboard to configure. Install it, press play, and you're already learning in under 30 seconds.

4

Built for real people

Not linguists, not power users — people who want to watch their show and pick up a language on the side. Simple wins.
